What Is Hark Pro? Brett Adcock’s New AI Assistant Explained

Hark Pro is a new AI personal assistant from Brett Adcock’s startup Hark, released widely on October 6, 2026. It remembers your preferences, connects to your email, calendar, and accounts, and — unlike a regular chatbot — uses its Handoff engine to operate your computer for you: booking flights, paying bills, and ordering food. It is free to use, with a paid tier for heavy users.

What Is Hark Pro?

Hark Pro is the flagship product of Hark, a startup founded less than a year ago by serial entrepreneur Brett Adcock — the founder of humanoid robotics company Figure AI. Rather than building another chatbot, the company calls Hark Pro “personal intelligence,” describing it on the App Store as “an operating system for your life, built to think ahead.”

The core idea is proactivity: instead of waiting for you to ask, Hark Pro watches your digital life and offers to handle things — approving expenses, answering emails, booking a flight — with a single tap.

The launch is backed by over $700 million in Series A funding (May 2026) at a $6 billion valuation, led by Parkway Venture Capital, with NVIDIA, AMD Ventures, Intel Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures participating. Adcock himself seeded the company with $100 million, and the team is about 70 people.

How Does Hark Pro Actually Work?

Open Hark Pro and you get a full-screen experience with a central chat dialog, a feed of proactive prompts for actions you might need, and visualizations called panels — mini-dashboards the app generates for things you care about, from exercise trackers to media players. The background is custom imagery tailored to the weather and time where you are.

Under the hood sits Handoff, the computer-use engine previewed on August 5. For each request it spins up a dedicated virtual computer with its own browser, file system, and terminal, then clicks, scrolls, and types through websites — even ones with no public API. A small window shows you its navigation live, which Hark says builds trust that it is doing the right thing.

Three more features round out the experience, per the App Store listing:

  • Action Buttons turn a notification into a one-tap task, such as paying a bill or replying to an invitation.
  • Projects are separate threads for long-running work, each with its own files.
  • Persistent memory means one long-running conversation across sessions — the service can remember information from your chats and connected accounts, and you can review, correct, or delete it in settings or simply by asking.

What Can Hark Pro Do for You?

The App Store example shows a restaurant booking: Hark checks your calendar for a free slot, recalls your favorite places, notes a friend’s food allergy on the reservation, and offers a button to book a ride there.

In a TechCrunch demo, design lead Abidur Chowdhury (a former Apple designer) showed the assistant asking about expenses to approve, emails to answer, and a flight to book — plus handling a colleague’s California DMV car-registration renewal through the agency’s website on its own.

Hark’s demos show Handoff ordering on DoorDash, shopping at Target, booking OpenTable tables, messaging candidates on LinkedIn, and reserving flights. On the human-evaluated Online-Mind2Web test of 300 tasks across 136 live sites, it scored 97.7% — just ahead of Yutori’s Navigator n1.5 (97.3%) and ACT-2 (92.7%). On Hark’s own internal evaluation it scored 83.2, versus 75.2 for GPT-5.5 and 80.5 for Claude Opus 4.8.

How Is Hark Pro Different from ChatGPT or Siri?

Three things set Hark Pro apart. First, its model is trained specifically for computer use — for clicking, scrolling, and filling in forms — rather than being a general knowledge model bolted onto a browser. Second, it works end-to-end: Hark says it completes tasks fully instead of asking you to take over halfway.

Third is the privacy pitch. “We’re not here to sell ads and steal your data,” Chowdhury told TechCrunch. Memory is inspectable and deletable, and closing your account deletes it. But be aware: it needs deep access — email, calendar, hard drive, possibly credit cards — and Hark’s terms put the burden on you to correct stale information it may act on.

How Much Does Hark Pro Cost?

Hark Pro is free to use, with a subscription tier for heavy users. Hark says Handoff costs “an order of magnitude lower” per token than rival frontier models: $0.18 per million input tokens and $2.37 per million output tokens.

The long-term plan is bigger than software: Hark promises an AI-native device to support the software in 2027, backed by a multi-year compute partnership with NVIDIA and an investment from AT&T to work on device certification and connectivity that works without your phone or Wi-Fi. The form factor is still secret.

How to Try Hark Pro

The iOS app “Hark Pro” is published by Hark Labs Inc, requires iOS 17.6 or later, and is rated 17+. Also check hark.com for other platforms and any waitlist. When connecting accounts, start with one — email or calendar — and review the memory settings first so you know what the assistant remembers.
